Remote Islands in Croatia

Croatia has hundreds of islands but most visitors stay on the bigger more famous ones. The remote islands that are rarely visited by regular ferries offer true peace beautiful nature and a chance to experience the Adriatic in a much quieter way.

One special island is Vis. Located further out in the sea it has clear turquoise water dramatic cliffs and small hidden beaches reachable only by boat or long walks. The island still has a strong traditional feeling with vineyards and old stone houses. What makes it unique is the combination of wild nature and authentic local life.

Best time to visit is June or September. You can reach Vis by ferry from Split but the schedule is limited. Nearest airport is Split. Plan to spend at least three to four days. Renting a small boat or scooter helps a lot to explore the hidden coves. Bring good walking shoes.
